COAST Festival commissions
The all-new COAST Festival of the Visual Arts in Banff and Macduff, North East Scotland, has announced the names of three artists to be commissioned to make public realm interventions for the festival.
All three selected artists are all members of AIR Artists Interaction and Representation. The artists are Julie Brook, who is based on the Isle of Skye and whose predominant work relates to wild and remote landscapes on the North West coast of Scotland; Alison Unsworth who works in a wide range of media focusing on specific built environments and the materials, styles and themes used; and Andy McKeown, a new media specialist based in Shrewsbury.
The artists have been asked to respond to the main festival theme Revealing the Unseen, and to the rich social history and diverse natural resources in the two historic towns of Banff and Macduff.
The festival will also feature exhibitions, an affordable art market, a food fair, music events, demonstrations, talks and participatory workshops for all age ranges.
COAST Festival is partnered with the not-for-profit Banffshire Coast Tourism Partnership, and has also recently announced the appointment of a new director, Danielle Daglan. It will take place between 23-26 May.
