a-n.co.uk includes some material that can be accessed by all. Free material is identified by the icon:

Having trouble logging on?
- Only current subscribers can log on to a-n.co.uk
- Your username and login are issued with your receipt sent to you when you subscribe. If you have lost your username and password ring +44 (0) 191 241 8000 quoting your name and postcode
- When you are first issued a username and password they are computer generated. If you want to change these to something more memorable please go to Change my details in thre login panel in the top right hand corner of the screen.
Downloadable files:
The site contains files that can be downloaded or read on screen. Files are normally available in pdf file format and require a pdf reader to read them. MS Word and rtf files may also be used. Go to Free file readers for links to free Word, pdf readers.

Using the artists toolkits and a-nunedited sections of the site
The toolkit and a-nunedited sections of the site are run from a different server and use different technologies from the main areas of a-n.co.uk. They use their own login system.
Help with the tookit sections:
- If you transfer as a logged in subscriber from a-n.co.uk your user name and password should be automatically accepted by the toolkits.
- If you have changed your password or username in a-n.co.uk after having previously used any of the toolkits you will be treated by them as a new user and you will not immediately be able to access any data saved under your old username and password. To do so you will need to go to Edit login in the toolkit and change your username and password to the ones you are now using for a-n.co.uk.
- Username in the tookits is a unique field. If someone has already used your preferred username you will have to change yours.
- The toolkits use cookies and javascript and your browser must be set to allow these. Go to About cookies for information on cookies and browser settings for them.
Help with a-nunedited sections
- No login is required for users browsing a-nunedited sections, however to contribute content to these sections you will need to register and login.
- You will need to register with the unedited before you will be able to contribute whether or not you have transfered as a logged-on subscriber from the main a-n.co.uk site.
- Username in the unediteds is a unique field. If someone has already used your preferred username you will have to change yours.
- The a-nunedited sections use cookies and javascript and your browser must be set to allow these.
