# 2 [6 June 2007]

Over the past couple of weeks i have had accsess to the studio space i will be based in other the next 6 months. This has given me chance to come up with some ideas and experiment a bit with some materials. It has also given me chance to get a feel for the space, whcih is nice as i will be working with it through the duration of the residency. Whats really great is it the first time ive been able to get covered in charcoal since last september!

This week it's time to knucle down and let the magic happen, the first of the three exhibitions is on the 23rd June. Its a drawing based show called WALK THE LINE. I have some ideas to work on some drawings within the studio space where they will be shown, i may work on one of them during the opening night, not sure yet.

I have seen the e-flyer for the WALK THE LINE and recognise a few of the names. Looking forward to the others installing their work, create a good chance to have a few cups of tea with some different faces. I have had good chats with the studio based artists other the last couple of weeks. Friendly bunch.

# 1 [3 June 2007]

I will be working as artist in residence for a period of 6 months at tactileBOSCH (Cardiff) artist led studio and alternative exhibition space. Beginning in June 2007 the residency will take place through the duration of ‘Addiction'. ‘Addiction' is the umbrella title of a cluster of exhibitions within the space - three linked shows between June and December with their foundations in drawing, installation and photography. I plan to be in the space during these exhibitions as well as the periods (pauses) between.

My work has developed from a photographic lead practice which dealt with themes on monuments and memorials. Moving on from these ideas I invested time into exploring the white cube of the gallery space through drawing and charcoal rubbing looking at the relationship between, artist, spectator and the site. My role as artist required a labor intensive process of interaction with the site which resulted in ‘site-specific installation drawings', from this point the space was open to the spectator.

The aim of the project is to further explore the relationships between artist, site and spectator through the drawing process, installation and photography; Creating an opportunity for me to engage with processes, that have been central to my work, in a way that builds new relationships between drawing, installation and photography within my practice.

The project is an opportunity to build networks with other artist, individuals and groups. It will develop the theoretical ideas within my artwork whilst giving me the space and time to investigate them through practice lead research. I am keen for the project to generate the possibility of interactions within the making process by members of the public, other artists who are either exhibiting work in ‘Addiction' or are tactileBOSCH studio based artists, as well as the curators of ‘Addiction'
