finished. i made one mistake yesterday when i was putting up feather curtains... so i'm a bit uneasy about that. but overall it looks fine :)

i'll finish the online version tonite and upload it (ruth catlow of furtherfield helped me sort out the ftp loggin). and then on to do you know i love you for december :)

almost there. today, we (henry, a very sweet shop assistant and i) quite unexpectedly almost finished the installation :) well, there's still background to finish and bits and bobs to fix... but its' almost there :) here's the pictures.

I Love Peckham Shop Windows is an exhibition of 30 contemporary artists in 30 shop windows in Peckham, London SE15. This showcase of site-specific artwork includes emerging and established artists from across the UK and Europe. The artworks have been made in response to the shops and include installation, film, performance and design to celebrate Peckham’s once ‘golden mile’.

beauties of skype and ichat... spent this evening with my old friend milena zdravkovic (living and working in vancuver) on ichat talking about my initial idea for angel - the one i hope to make as a second incarnation... and i sent her a sketch, she loved the idea. so while we were having coffee - i in london, she in vancuver, she made 3d concept visualisation - that's what she is doing for films there :) and here's what we came up with.

feathers doing good glued here on my studio wall :) video looks fine. the only thing i cant do today is to update my website... waiting for marc garrett of furtherfield (who are kindly hosting my website) to help me find the content of my website...

been this tuesday at the shop again - took pictures and measured the window and tellies and boxes. been to atlantis and bought two types of glue to test with feathers. been to ikea and bought pillows with feathers... openned one pillow - the fearthers are not all white, but it'll be okay.

today, worked on the video - i think i finished it. it is a compilation of several video materials i filmed in last three years. sometimes when i make a new video material i'm not sure what am i going to us it for... but then an opportunity comes along and context presents itself - i just have to be open to recongise a connection.

working in a shop window is a funny thing - it's not a gallery, obviously, so i have to be respectful of the shop rules and its daily business. therefore, my initial "flying feathers" vision had to go through adjustment... although i hope that a new incarnation of ANGEL (OF PECKHAM) will be just as i imagined it at first :)

so, i will have to use two plasma screens as it looks like i cant get more - although four would be ideal. but for now, with the magic of final cut pro, i think it will have the strength it needs. and flying feathers will become "vertical carpets"...

Em invited me recently to take part in I Love Peckham Residency this summer and make a work for a shop window. As my current work is focused on "location as a carrier of meaning" I thought it is a lovely opportunity to explore stories of Peckham and see how will the affect the process of production.

About ten days ago we (participating artists and Em) met at Peckham to see our shop windows and meet our shop managers :) I, at the time, was triyng to hold myself from any strong ideas of how and what I want to do - well, not before I see where I am supposed to work. It was a lovely saturday afternoon in Peckham - everybody were out on the streets, lots of traffic, lots of people - everything buzzing. Sounds, smells, images,... I decided just to listen, look, smell, feel Peckham.

From the very beginning I had very strong reaction to liveliness of Peckham - almost as I wanted to do something to counterpart the "noise" coming from colours, sounds, everything. So white kept on coming back, over and over and over again. Then after we saw all the shops, had a cup of coffee to recuperate - I left the bunch and decided to have a stroll down high street to once again experience the dynamics of Peckham. Then, it stuck me: FEATHERS... flying feathers, white flying feathers... that was it.

I immidiately left to Hackney and did a research on feathers and Peckham... what is the connection? is there a connection?and I found it: a story about a woman who's known as Angel of Peckham! But that was not all, a week later - Katie Heyes my friend and colleague mentioned William Blake's vision of angels in Peckham Rye - oh that was wonderful :)
