Visual art exhibitions and events with a platform for critical writing
By: FLEET
Fine Art at Falmouth constitutes a multitude of students working over and across a wide range of disciplines.
Following on the success of last years Sunrise with Sea Monsters, 24 Fine Art students from University College Falmouth travel to London for a final year group exhibition at Trinity Buoy Wharf, July 3rd. This is a space for each artist to document the trials and tribulations of project Fleet.

Since my last post Fleet has moved on quickly. The website is up and running, we have a graphic designer working on the catalogue and sponsorship have begun to get pledges from various cornish themed food & drinks companies for the private view. Fundraising managed to hold a sponsored cycle ride last weekend and the cake sales continue each week in the refectory. On the marketing front we have also begun to contact the press as regards to listings, hopefully we can can some critics to come review us!
I think that the project is proving quite a challenge for everybody involved now, as we have only 4 studio weeks left till we put up our degree show here at Falmouth. Any admin work done for Fleet inevitably eats into what precious time we have left to finish our degree. Putting on two degree shows was never going to be an easy task anyway!
But the excitement remains and we are all positive about the potential success of having an exhibition in London.

This is the first post from the Fleet exhibition group, thought I would get us all started!
Well things are progressing quickly now, since our last meeting we have bought webspace (www.fleetexhibition.info) and the site will be under construction very soon. The cake stall in the canteen last week run by the sponsorship team was also a success in raising vital funds. Over the weekend we managed to get everyone up to Pendennis point for a group photo just before the storms hit cornwall. Everone I have spoken to seems to be pleased with the resulting picture - a windswept collective stood on top of a rugged cornish cliff!
A proposal has been submitted to the college for funding this week and we hope to hear back soon. In the mean time everybody is getting on with their group tasks and we will reconveine again after the easter break to discuss progress!
