Visual art exhibitions and events with a platform for critical writing

We have recently started a Network of Artists who deliver community art in the Border area of NE England and SE Scotland.
This blog will introduce some of these artists and their work, and the ways in which we try to resource the Network.
Think Make Grow Community Arts Project was established in 2007.
We deliver innovative and creative arts projects in the community, enabling groups to participate in the design and creation of art works for their own and their communities benefit facilitated by professional artists.
We work with all sectors of the community, especially groups who would not normally access art projects such as learning disabled people and young people at risk of offending.
Our projects have a dual purpose, one being the development of an artwork, the other to educate and increase awareness of an issue or topic.

# 3 [8 May 2008]
Nine members of the Network met at The Maltings, in Berwick to discuss opportunities for participation in TMG projects and to pool ideas for two training events, which have been funded by AN.
We plan for these to take place in late April/early May and July 2008.
Consensus was for the sessions to take place during weekday mornings, and to be of approximately 2 hours duration.
Favourite topics were:
a) Working with people with disabilities and managing disruptive behaviour (there is a group in Glasgow offering excellent training, who would come to us)
b)How to effectively network and market your skills.
We also drew up a list of topics that could be offered by in-house skills sharing, including: short cuts to funding, Photography and IT packages, gaining access to schools, mural design, using icebreakers with groups and costume design.
# 2 [8 May 2008]
One of the things we hope to do as TMG Artist Network is to provide Training and Professional Development for members.
With this in mind we applied to a-n for a grant from the 'nan' fund to facilitate some training events.
We were granted enough to fund two training events, and Network members are meeting at 10.00 at the Maltings (in the bar) in Berwick on Wednesday 19th March to discuss the content of those events.
All members and those interested in joining will be welcome.
