Visual art exhibitions and events with a platform for critical writing

I am 44 years old and currently live in Hereford. I am excited by organic growth and natural forms. My ideas and work are based around my own perception of nature and my surroundings. I am particularly interested in the shapes, forms and colours found in this subject matter. There are strong decorative qualities inherent in images concerning organic growth and natural forms and it is interesting how different colours affect pictorial space within a composition.

Presentations all over! It was a very long day with 25 students to get through. I felt very nervous but when it came to my turn I felt I managed to get all my ideas over and I think it went well.
Tutor assessments over but external examiner in today to look at our work. We should get some feedback by this Wednesday during our tutorials.
The P.V. went really well. The show looked great and there was a real buzz in the air. But I'm really excited about tonight because it's our V.I.P. evening when galleries and other important bodies are invited to come and view the show. It will be interesting to see what they think!

My work is up and I am pleased with the way it looks. I decided on two large paintings in the end and I think that they compliment each other well. Tomorrow we give our presentations and then our supporting work is assessed on Thursday. The exhibition looks really good but I think we'll all be glad when we've got our presentations over!

Have finally finished my painting for the Summer Show and fitted the mirror plates ready for the hang. Just need to wrap it up securely ready for my man with the van on Wednesday 4th June. I will be very relieved when my work has been safely transported and is securely fixed on the display boards. This part is quite nerve racking!

It's all starting to come to a conclusion now. We have to go along to the exhibition space on Friday 30th May to tape up joins in the display boards and fill in cracks. Hopefully the boards will be painted over the weekend. We shall see what the state of play is on Monday 2nd June!!!! And find out who's got what space!!!!!

Just got a bit more work to do on my main piece for the Summer Show. I've booked a van to transport my painting to the exhibition space on Wed. 4th June since it won't fit in my car. All work must be up by the 6th June ready for the private view on the 13th.
Our tutors have taken photographs of other works undertaken by ourselves during this last module. These images will be shown on a monitor as a rolling loop in our Fine Art exhibition space during the show. This will enable the public etc to see further examples of our work other than our final pieces on display.

Finished my current colour study. Not completely satisfied with my colours but the image is quite interesting. Find it difficult sometimes to get the exact colour I want when mixing acrylics. I find the tones and the surface finish much more satisfying when using emulsions.

My colour study seems to be coming on well. I have enjoyed this experience since it gives me valuable insights into my final pieces.

I am currently working on pieces for the end of course Summer Show. I am enjoying exploring the use of colour and emulsion paints on canvas. This is causing me a few issues. I like using the larger canvases although they are causing me problems with transportation.
