Visual art exhibitions and events with a platform for critical writing
By: Larna Campbell
Following our recent award of a NAN New Collaborations bursary we have begun working on a collaborative project to explore the potential of paper and clay as materials. We hope to have a work in progress show in Autumn 08. We will be sharing our ideas with each other on this blog.
We are three artists who are coming together to work on a new collaboration.Rebecca Strain is a visual artist inspired by process and currently working wth handmade paper.Dawn Sharkey is a visual and ceramic artist who's current work is inspired by notions of the communality of society.Larna Campbell is a process led sculptor who has most recently been exploring the book as art object.

# 1 [14 May 2008]
This is an experimental collaboration intended to provoke new thoughts, discussion and debate on materials and process to inspire the production of new work. As each of us has specialist skills is areas of ceramics, papermaking and sculpture we would like use this time for dialogue through making and experimenting in ways of working in new materials that interest us, whilst passing on our skills to our peers. We met for the first time today at Beaver Studio's in Leeds. Rebecca did a demo on how to make a sheet of paper and then we were off. The day was ideatastic, questiontabulous and lots of messy fun.Next week we are going to Atom Studio's in Bradford to have a look at Larna's work and do some things with books.

Hey guys. Cheery wave. The images look good Larna. Lots of dainty fingerwork being employed - have never noticed that before and am quite surprised. I'm excited to see how these look when they are dry- I love the idea of making all the paper into a big book of ideas. Juicy. See you Wednesday. Mwah.
