Using interface
Interface is a-n's focal point around the presentation of contemporary art. It is our place for visual art exhibitions and events with a platform for new critical writing. It covers the breadth of contemporary visual and applied arts, including performance, new public artworks and artists' publications.
It includes:
- What's on: listing of exhibitions and events around the UK and beyond, a-n subscribers can post their own listings.
- Reviews unedited: continuously growing as users add and comment on reviews. Includes a-n Magazine reviews from November 2000.
- Venue index: listing of venues and their reviews, around the UK and beyond.
- Reviewer index: read reviewers biographies and see all reviews they've written for a-n, reviewers looking for writing work can publish their email and website details.
- Latest news and articles on Interface home managed by Rosemary Shirley.
For artists
- Promote your show - a-n subscribers can post free What's on listings and an image.
- Have your show reviewed - ask someone whose perspective you respect and can offer independent critical feedback of your work to contribute a review to Reviews unedited. (Be open to constructive criticism - it's a healthy part of putting your work out there in the public domain!)
- Research galleries - find out what's on around the UK and read reviews of venue's past exhibitions.
- Develop your critical writing skills by contributing reviews of exhibitions, performances, public artworks or artists' publications you have seen or comment on reviews others have written.
- Keep in touch - sign up for RSS feeds to alert you when new Reviews or What's on listings are posted to Interface.
For galleries/venues
- Promote your show - a-n subscribers can post free What's on listings and an image. Non-subscribers can buy display advertising in a-n Magazine to get a complimentary listing on Interface.
- Buy a banner or button advert for maximum visibility.
- Gain critical feedback - why not encourage local writers, critics and artists who can offer independent critical feedback on your programme to review a show and post it on Reviews unedited.
- Keep in touch - sign up for RSS feeds to alert you when new Reviews or What's on listings are posted to Interface.
For reviewers
- Join our community of writers by becoming a regular contributor of reviews - look out for special offers, prizes and giveaways publicised on Interface home.
- Profile your writing - we're promoting the site far and wide as the place for new critical writing so be sure to publish your contact details and make the most of your reviewer profile.
- Comment on other writers' reviews.
- Research - use what's on listing to find out about all the latest shows.
- Keep in touch - sign up for RSS feeds to alert you when new Reviews or What's on listings are posted to Interface.
