Intervention/Decoration

Intervention/Decoration

Intervention/Decoration is the ambitious inaugural project commissioned by Foreground, a new contemporary art commissioning organisation based in Frome, Somerset.

The project is sited throughout the market town of Frome, taking over both interior and exterior spaces, with a selection of artists commissions responding to the architecture and histories of the place as well as to the theme of Intervention/Decoration.

The artists' interventions vary from the excess of Richard Woods' 200m2 of clashing cartoon floorboards inserted into an eighteen century non-conformist chapel, to the monochrome restraint of Michael Dean's mysterious sculpture garden of black balloons, folded metal, concrete and sticks behind the local toyshop which is housed in the town's Brutalist former library. Also look out for Cornelia Parker's appropriation of an infamous Phillip Larkin poem.
