Visual art exhibitions and events with a platform for critical writing
Sees the installation of a new piece of permanent public art by Nils Norman in Portsmouth's Gunwharf Quays shopping complex. The mural adorns a pedestrian underpass and will be accompanied by a series of poster works appearing around the city together with an exhibition at aspex gallery.
The project addresses the city's urban landscape, exploring the changing nature of public space, city design and the challenges of urban ecology.The works are intended to invite us to re-imagine the ways in which we approach our cities, considering how urban life could be more sustainable, the DIY reclamation of public space by local people and the re-appropriation of history.
