I plan to invite the public to record their reactions to some of my recent paintings using a questionnaire developed in conjunction with a Jungian analyst and a marketing consultant. The questionnaire will ask the viewer amongst other things, what images and feelings they associate with these works. The paintings will be exhibited in four intimate tent-like spaces in my studio to ensure the viewer is free from distraction and thus at liberty to reflect thoughtfully on the painting, his/her reaction to it, and the space to articulate those feelings. This exhibition is part of my ongoing research on the effects of participation in the exhibition space.

a location-specific installation sited in two vacant shop units at the duke street entrance to the mall in barrow-in-furness. the form of the work is derived from the curved bow of the vigilant, a vanguard class nuclear submarine built in barrow. the intention of the work is to make it appear that the submarine has dropped onto the building. however, instead of demolishing it, the building has adjusted itself to accommodate the shape of the hull.

This exhibition is the central part of the 'zerosandones' digital arts festival, the longest running digital arts festival in the South of England, curated by Fairfields Director, which has run almost every year for the last fifteen years. The exhibition shows work by international artists from Europe, the US, and the UK. However, in contrast with previous years' exhibitions this year the emphasis in some of the works will be much more on the artistic and less on the particular digital element of it. This is an accurate reflection of the development of the use of the technology. As the use of digital technology is now so firmly embedded in everything we see, it has almost become invisible, and in some cases you may not even realise the work you are seeing is digital art - the medium has become so absorbed into the message.

In the time of waiting, with nothing to be done, Gould made a few drawings of her dying father lying against the white expanse of the bed sheets. Still mourning as the third anniversary of his death approached, she resolved to undertake a journey to one of the most remote and least human places in the world; the Antarctic Peninsula. She took the drawings of him with her, and set them out, there, amongst the penguins and ice and the white expanse of glaciers. In Peninsular, international artist Polly Gould explores mourning, melancholia, and the romantic theme of the artist’s lonely journey into awesome and sublime nature, through video, photography and drawing made during her trip to the Antarctic.

In response to ICIA’s theme 'so far...' this atmospheric series of photographs explores how geography, personal memory and social history intersect. In the tradition of the seascape, the images depict the North Sea, where most of the North’s un-mined coal still resides. The photographs have been created using image-making equipment available to all of us in everyday life; the low-resolution mobile phone camera. Enlarged beyond clear definition, the images become hazy, impressionistic, glowing with colour. Printed on a surface that appears to be watercolour paper, they seem to suggest the more abstract works of Turner. Tim Brennan is viewed as one of the most important practitioners to contribute to the social and political role of contemporary art and has been cited as developing and applying the concerns of minimalism, performance, land art and conceptualism within the social fabric. He is Programme Leader, MA Curating at the University of Sunderland.
